We are located in the area that has enjoyed a variety of names including Cab Hollow, Cass Street, Billy Goat Hill, Peyton Place, Sugar Hill and Cruzen Community. There have been and currently are flourishing commercial concerns within the confines of this community.
The Peaks' House facility was built as a private residence in the mid-1940's for the small Three-membered Peaks family. The neighbors, many of whom were members of large families including the Lee, Smith, Owens, Taylor, Kinnard, Bailey, and Marshall families embraced the family and included them as well as led examples of giving unconditional love for one another and others.
Because of examples exhibited by the community some of the Twentieth Century youth chose to extend assistance to others. It is the hope of Peaks' House affiliates to offer a facility for challenged people to start anew, in a welcoming and helpful environment.
Because some one decided they needed the copper from wiring within the conduit going into the house from the street, we were left with the decision to begin operations "Off the Grid." Getting as much facilitated has not proven to be so difficult. We have begun using our gas generator while continuing the use of our solar generator-system and ultimately plan to use wind and possibly geothermal energy, also.
